👋 Hey Friends,
Last night, while reading through my journal, I came across the following quote.
"When multiple successful people offer the same advice, don't ignore it." Dated 26 January 2016.
This was the only quote on the whole page with some page numbers from different books.
I couldn’t recall why I did that.
When I looked through these books at the mentioned pages, everything made sense. On those pages were some highlights.
They were:
Mindset: The New Psychology of Success by Carol S. Dweck
The Wit and Wisdom of Charles T. Munger by Charlie Munger
John and Charlie are not related in any way. Yet they talk about the same underlying idea.
And the idea is this: Exceptional People Learn Constantly.
How much you learn every day doesn’t matter. How many pages of a book you read every day doesn’t matter.
What matters is that you keep going.
What matters is “Consistency.”
Now, it sounds very simple. “Just be consistent.”
However, it’s not as simple in practice.
You see, “Consistency” requires something that depletes quickly.
Motivation.
You must have heard people saying:
"Not feeling it today"
"I’m out of steam."
"I've hit a wall."
"Just not in the mood."
"Lacking the spark."
"Not in the zone."
"Can't find my rhythm."
They all are saying the same thing.
“There is zero motivation left.”
As “motivation” finishes, people quit.
So what’s the solution?
The solution is to “keep going without motivation.”
It's as simple and blunt as that.
You’re not feeling it today? Keep going!
You're out of steam? Keep going!
You’re not in the zone? Keep going!
And those who keep going without motivation call it “Discipline.”
That’s right!
The same old “Discipline.”
It is the only human trait responsible for all meaningful advancements throughout history.
This is what keeps you going when there is no motivation left.
And if you stay at it, this is also what brings the “motivation” back.
That’s right!
Discipline allows us to experience small wins.
Hitting milestones and seeing progress reignites motivation.
So!
Consistency is the key to Growth.
Discipline is the key to Consistency.

Quote of the Week
“We must all suffer from one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. The difference is discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons.”
