Team Track

My team uses retrospectives to vent out complaints. No action is ever taken.

How mature teams convert Venting into Improvement?

“Another retro ended with a superb therapy session.”

Most retros are basically group therapy sessions. Team members vent their frustrations, empathize with each other, and then quickly return to the same unproductive habits they’ve been stuck in.

After the retrospective is over, they leave with feelings (mostly mad and sad), not fixes. Everyone “participates,” but nothing changes.

Don’t get me wrong… venting is healthy.

No doubt!

But teams are there for improvement.

In today's post, I will give you some ways I have seen mature teams use to convert this “Venting” into IMPROVEMENT.

Let’s get started.
