This is a very specific, very common kind of problem.

You’re trying to help a senior person (a longtime PM, PO, architect, or manager), and you hit the wall:

“I’ve done agile since ’09, I know this already.”

They claim to be pro-agile. But in practice, you see:

  • they have strong opinions based on the old version of agile

  • they use lots of “we tried that, it doesn’t work here” with very little data behind it

For you, this creates a coaching trap.

They believe they already have the thing you’re trying to help them with.

So!

How do you handle a team member like that?

Let’s find out.
