What Should an RTE Measure?

Q: “Hi Vibhor, could you write about the metrics an RTE can use in an Agile Release Train? What should an RTE actually focus on to enable better planning, improve execution, and steer the ART toward value?”

Thank you for the question.

This is one of the most common questions I get from Scrum Masters stepping into or supporting an RTE.

The honest answer is this:

Most RTEs either measure too little (and fly blind into PI Planning) or measure too much (and drown their teams in dashboards). The goal is the right data, used the right way.
